Joel Greer

Joel is a data scientist working in the CCP-EM group. He completed an integrated MSci in Physics at the University of Bristol in 2017 and subsequently began a PhD at Bristol working on development of algorithms for the front-end data acquisition and triggering of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). In particular, this focussed on the detection of supernova bursts via their neutrino signal. During his PhD he took a 6 month placement with the CCP-EM group, working on the development of machine learning methods for labelling density maps. After completing his PhD in 2022, Joel joined the CCP-EM group where his work is focussed on the development of tools and techniques to aid in the understanding and interpretation of heterogeneity in cryoEM datasets.
